Dvorak's four short pieces for violin and piano were written in 1887, instigated by the need for a repertoire for musical dilettantes. While they are intended more for home music making than for the concert platform, they betray the experienced hand of the creative genius. In view of their accessibility and rich invention, Romantic Pieces have always been highly popular among violinists. This title is part of the first Complete Critical Edition of Works by Antonin Dvorak.
